EDGE CONSULTING: Edge Consulting has the qualified staff and resources to successfully navigate your archaeological and cultural resource compliance needs. Our company goal and mission is to provide clients with cost effective and personalized service.

COMPLIANCE: Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) requires federally permitted or funded projects to include studies that take into consideration potential effects those projects may have on cultural resources, including archaeological sites and other historic properties. In certain circumstances, state laws or local ordinances may also require archaeological surveys.

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is additional federal legislation that may also require certain development projects to include an archaeological study. Considering the complexities of the NHPA and NEPA processes, Edge Consulting has staff members that are skilled professionals in all aspects of archaeological, historical, and environmental compliance.

DIVERSE EXPERIENCE: Our staff archaeologists have years of successful professional experience including a wide array of project types on both public and private lands. Project types include FCC telecommunications tower surveys, EPA water facility surveys, DOT highway corridor surveys, DNR permitting surveys, DOE wind farm surveys, and more.

We regularly complete projects throughout the Upper Midwestern states including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and Nebraska. Our staff members have developed working relationships with local SHPOs, THPOs, and other professionals in these states, allowing Edge Consulting to efficiently manage projects in a wide array of settings and circumstances.

RAPID TURNAROUND: We are not limited by a sub-consultants schedule and therefore can make your deadlines a priority and a reality. As archaeological surveys can only be completed when sites are predominantly free of frost and snow cover, the Midwest does have some limitations with respect to seasonal work. When coupling the fast-paced nature of the construction industry and the complexity of the federal Section 106/NEPA review processes, we find having in-house archaeological and compliance staff to be invaluable.
